This <strong>required an analysis that would prove not only the \u201cwhat\u201d, but the \u201chow\u201d and the \u201cwhy\u201d from a technical point of view.<\/strong> <\/h6><h6>The expert need was twofold:<\/h6><h6>(1) confirm that these emails <strong>were actually sent\/received<\/strong> and<\/h6><h6>(2) demonstrate that <strong>they had not been modified<\/strong>, also including <strong>all the attached content<\/strong>.<\/h6><h6>In addition, the <strong>entire content<\/strong> should be provided for independent review, reinforcing the transparency and verifiability of the work.<\/h6><h6>From there, the analysis was not limited to a \u201cclosed batch\u201d: it was documented that there were <strong>dozens of additional emails<\/strong> exchanged between the corporate and personal accounts, and the work was expanded with <strong>blind searches<\/strong> extending the date range <strong>to detect and verify related communications<\/strong>, incorporating them for assessment with their proven authenticity.<\/h6><h6>At martinsdelima we apply a methodology designed so that each conclusion is <strong>traceable, reproducible and defensible<\/strong>: we perform <strong>forensic acquisition<\/strong> ensuring the <strong>non-modification of databases, headers and contents<\/strong>, and studying metadata in the laboratory with forensic tools (e.g., <strong>Autopsy, X-Ways and EnCase<\/strong>). The technical heart of the report was the analysis of <strong>headers<\/strong> (chronological reading from bottom to top) and critical fields such as <strong>Message-ID<\/strong> and <strong>Received<\/strong>, complemented with validations of origin\/destination by consulting the owner of public IPs in <strong>RIPE<\/strong>, and additional checks with tools such as <strong>WinHex<\/strong> and OsForensics to rule out manipulations in emails and attachments.  <\/h6><h6>The result was excellent because it closed the technical debate: it was concluded that the expert emails were <strong>real<\/strong> and that <strong>their content had not been altered<\/strong> (neither dates nor sending\/receiving servers), <strong>reiterating the NON-manipulation<\/strong> and providing the reproduced content and its original version for review.
